Parkside Terrace - Residents and Rooms...

There are three rooms on each floor and an attic on top.

Ground Floor:

Front room - Thomas Kendrick drew the short straw this year and lives in the downstairs front bedroom. As an ex-dining-room it's fairly spacious, but does get foot traffic going past and street noise, the usual perils of ground-floor student dwellings.

Middle room - The sitting-room. Has a window out over the back yard to let in daylight. One of the communal areas of the house. Contains two small sofas, a single battered armchair, a bookcase of dvds (carefully labelled by the owners) and a large television.

Back room - Kitchen. Looks out over the yard. Communal area of the house. Contains one enormous fridge, partitioned by housemate with an extra 'fair game' shelf for shared items, a separate freezer, cupboards containing sundry pots, pans, plates and other kitchenware, a range of white goods including washing machine, microwave, toaster, cooker, etc...

First Floor:

Front room - Holly Porter got the front bedroom, probably the best in the house as it's the biggest on the first floor and thus not up too many stairs. There is the problem of street noise, but it's a dead end, so there's not too much, and mostly the wandering foot traffic of students doesn't bother her.

Middle room - Nancy Mills has the middle first floor room. What it lacks in space it makes up for in warmth and quiet. Stuck in the middle of the house Nancy's room is the warmest in the house all year round, and looks out over the back yard, meaning there's only a noise issue if the neighbours throw a party.

Back room - First floor bathroom. Shared by Tom, Hols and Nancy, but used by basically all visitors to the house since it's the nearest to downstairs. Contains a bath with shower, sink and toilet.

Second Floor:

Front room - Amir Nagi has the front bedroom on the second floor. Much like the bedroom below only with more stairs to climb.

Middle room - Lily-Jo Brooker has the second floor middle room. Same size as Nancy's room, but with more stairs.

Back room - Second floor bathroom. Shared by Amir, Lily-Jo and Martin. Slightly cleaner than the lower bathroom, as it gets less traffic, and isn't as full of girl things, but equally has more blokes shaving in it most mornings.

Attic:

With a sloped roof in towards the middle of the house, the attic is partitioned into a storage room and a bedroom. Though fairly roomy, the attic bedroom is awkward to navigate, what with the roof, but Martin keeps mostly to himself and rarely makes a lot of noise. The attic is out of the way, and while the floor is fairly warm, the skylight lets out some of the heat, which means that it's not brilliant in winter. On the other hand, Martin is free to hang as many airfix models from the ceiling beams as he likes.

Parkside Terrace isn't the best house ever, but it's not entirely awful, and Mr Silvestri the landlord is a nice enough man, even if he does look terrifyingly like he belongs to the mob. Also Mrs Silvestri does amazing cupcakes, but only if you are polite and always ready for tea to occur.
